When I was a kid we had a near by family of farmers with a bunch of kids.   You could see the mother did not eat much.   My Grand Ma and Dad always sent food to them.   Just to give a meal for the Mom.    It is hard being poor and giving a dam about your kids.   But you do what you have to.   Yes the father always ate well.   Sometimes that is a thing.   Can't help stupid sometimes.
